Trainees attend their host school placement in the Autumn and Summer Term, with a contrasting placement in the Spring Term. Placements are organised based on previous experience and location to ensure you get the most out of your training year.

Placements cover EYFS to Year 1 for the EYFS PGCE and Years 1 to 6 for the General Primary PGCE.

Subject Knowledge

The course timetable layers subject knowledge sessions with school-based experience. As the course progresses through the year, the taught programme ensures trainees have opportunities to explore subject knowledge in their placements and develop teaching confidence.

Taught sessions are planned to cover all subjects including English, Mathematics, Computing, Science and History. Sessions cover the Primary key stages and are practically based as much as possible, led by Specialist Leaders of Education within the trust.

All trainees attend Safeguarding training at the beginning of the course.
