Initial Teacher Training You’ll Love

Being a teacher is one of the most rewarding careers you could have but choosing a training provider can be confusing and overwhelming.

At Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training, we put you at the heart of everything we do.  Our courses are designed by teaching specialists who have thought about everything on your behalf.  Right from application through to graduation, we are here to support you and ensure that you have the best possible experience.

School Experience From Day One

Our School-centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) courses give you school experience from day one.  Very quickly you will learn behaviour management and understand your presence in the classroom and the areas you need to develop to be the best teacher that you can be.

Embed Theoretical Learning With A PGCE

School experience is important but understanding how children learn underpins everything you do in the classroom.  During your SCITT course you will receive central training, alongside working towards your PGCE with either Leicester University (if you are based in Leicester/Leicestershire) or Nottingham Trent University (if you are based in Nottingham/Nottinghamshire or Derby/Derbyshire).

On successful completion of your course, you will have gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), from an training provider judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Benefits of a School-centred route to teaching

Listen to our Programme Director talk about what a SCITT is and the benefits of choosing a school-centred route to teacher training.

What our trainees say

Fab training sessions with experts in their area of learning, supportive class mentors and learning coaches and being able to exchange ideas with other trainees. Most importantly working with children, creating positive relationships which impacts on their love of learning!

Sophie Jackson, SCITT Trainee 2019/2020

Outstanding support

Right from application through to graduation, the support you will receive is second to none.  Our professional and friendly team are their to support and guide you at every step of the way.

Three-tiered Support

As a SCITT trainee with Inspiring Leaders, you will receive three levels of support

Level 1 –Class Mentor

Your Class Mentor is the teacher in the class you are assigned to on placement and they support the day to day facilitation of your experience and teaching practice.

Level 2 – Learning Coach

Your Learning Coach is an experienced coach within the school who takes care of your progress. It is someone outside of the classroom, so you have opportunity to reflect together on your progress, set targets for the coming week, and plan the experiences and support you need to move forwards and develop as a teacher.

Level 3 – Professional Tutor

Your Professional Tutor, based at Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training, links the placement and taught programme together.  Your Professional Tutor comes to observe and support you on the course and meets with you and your learning coach to monitor and support progress, both professionally as a teacher but also pastorally. They are the person that guides you through the course in all areas.
